Huge wildfires are no surprise. We allowed Arrowhead and Niagara to come in and cap off all the natural springs that fed lush green valleys that stopped fires in their tracks. The slow decline of wild life is also a tragic consequence of our actions.

A little backstory! The Helicopter was the first unit OnScene to advise of the fire. The reason the helicopter was up in that area was due to a water rescue along the American River that they were just clearing which tied up multiple units that normally would respond in this area. The first priority was evacuations that's why you see way more Police than fire units in the beginning especially because the engines had to respond from further away. this was a fast-moving spotty fire that spread quickly and spotted in multiple different locations. The first report from the copter of currently 5 acres with the potential to grow up to 300+acres with moderate to dangerous rate of spread which prompted an immediate request to calfire for air attack and additional ground support!
